Former Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Monday announced there won’t be any change in the allocation of ministries of Congress legislators. However, the party will fill the post left vacant by late Minister CS Shivalli. This statement made by the leader of the Congress Legislative Party and the Chairman of the Coordination Committee between the JD(S) and Congress to reporters in Mysuru puts to rest speculation about a possible cabinet rejig. Following the drubbing in the Lok Sabha Elections, it was speculated that the Congress-JD(S) might go in for a complete reshuffle of the allocation of ministries. There were reports of the possibility of inclusion of dissident Congress MLA Ramesh Jarkiholi and independent MLA R Shankar in the cabinet. This as a mean to safeguard the coalition government from the threat of BJP luring its MLAs. Speaking to reporters on Monday, Siddaramaiah further said there was no threat to the government and there were no grounds of dissolving the current state government in light of the Lok Sabha Election results. He said the Lok Sabha poll results were not a referendum for the state government but the performance of the central government. The Congress and JD(S) managed to win only one seat each, with the BJP trouncing the alliance, emerging victorious in 25 seats. In a series of tweets, he also lambasted former CM and BJP state chief BS Yeddyurappa. “.@BSYBJP claims to form the govt inspite of not having the number. This is not a new drama but this is continuously misleading the public. Mr. @narendramodi bowed to the constitution but in which article has the constitution given the right for @BJP4India to destabilize our govt,” Siddaramaiah said. In a subsequent tweet, he added, Ramesh Jarkiholi won’t quit the party and the Congress-JD(S) won’t lose their numbers in the House due to horsetrading.
